“This head appeared to me as I was just beginning the painting and as the canvas became more developed, the image formed meaning. Here, a conquered Goliath lays behind the stones that took him down. The prophetic tree of Jesse hovers in the mid-ground. Behind is the city of David, named after the King and boy conqueror, the birthplace of Jesus who would come for us to conquer evil.”
