Revelation 12: 1-10
A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven. A woman clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars… then another sign… an enormous red dragon with seven heads in front of the woman that he might devour her child. She gave birth to a son who will rule all the nations… and her child was snatched up to God and to his throne… and there was war in heaven… and the great dragon was hurled down that ancient serpent called the devil or Satan…
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ…the accuser… overcome… by the blood of the Lamb.”
Artist’s Interpretation:
“After the seventh trumpet, the Dragon pursues the woman with the moon and twelve stars at her feet. She escapes and lifts the Son up to God to be placed on his throne. The Dragon spits water to drown his victim, but the earth opens to swallow it up. The Dragon is enchained and thrown down to earth. The lamb, through all of the tumult of destruction, remains steadfast and calm, looking on, as the new kingdom is about to come.”
